Loved by the students, grudgingly tolerated by the teachers.
The Sixth Form Revue is a great Knights Templar tradition. It’s an opportunity for members of the Sixth Form to get away with far more than they usually would in a school environment - including searing satire, innuendo and occasional partial nudity - all while taking on the personas of some of the most famous and infamous members of staff at KTS.
This year, the revue’s theme was ‘The Return of Ofsted’. The storyline followed Mrs Hopkins (Joe Nelson) and the Inspector (Charlotte Bell) as they toured the departments and witnessed school life in action. Some scenes were genius, such as ‘Languages’, which featured Mrs. Oget (Tanishia Gearing) hitting Mrs Hopkins with a baguette repeatedly and a superb take of Mrs. Barker’s (Lena Harding) assemblies where ‘Mrs Barker’ managed to talk about literally nothing for 10 minutes. However, some scenes felt strained, and certain jokes only made sense to more senior students - but perhaps that’s the charm of the revue. The longer you’ve been here, the funnier it gets.
Kira Beck described the revue as being ‘relatable’ and ‘so much fun to watch’ and Jemima Walley found it ‘very funny’. Teachers seemed to enjoy the revue, too. Mr Litchfield remarked that it is a ‘Great part of the school’, and Miss Barker told NewsKnight that it was a ‘Good way to end the year’. Joe Nelson felt ‘fantastic’ about being in the revue, while Barney Taylor (Mr Litchfield) said that ‘this year was lots of fun’.
The revue ended with a final showdown between Mr Litchfield and the Inspector, which I thought could have been slightly better. A more dramatic or exciting scene would have ended the show with more pizzazz, rather than the Inspector simply giving KTS an outstanding. In contrast, the finale, ‘Lip sync battle’ was far more entertaining. Some parts made me laugh more than I had a while, especially when the maths teachers danced to ‘Pi r squared sounds like area to me’.
The Sixth Form Revue was an "outstanding success."
