UCAS FAIR INSIGHTS ALL

On Tuesday 21st June, 124 year 12 students travelled to The University of Bedfordshire for a UCAS Convention to find out more about post-18 options and the application process.

The exhibition welcomed over 5,000 students from around the area to the Bedford campus where there will be stands from institutions across the country.

Throughout the event students had the opportunity to speak to representatives from more than 150 Higher Education institutions. The students were able to attend a series of seminar presentations that provided information on a range of higher education subjects and issues ranging from; student finance, medical school applications, sports science courses, Oxbridge applications, engineering courses, personal statement writing and much more.

In addition to the seminar programme and exhibition, the University also be ran an entertainment programme, where students got a flavour of student life and meet current undergraduate students.

When the students were not in attendance at one of the many seminars taking place on the day, they had the opportunity to visit a wide variety of university stalls to find out more about specific courses, accommodation and university life in general.

With over 100 universities in attendance, as well as apprenticeship programmes and even the armed forces recruitment services, all Sixth Form students were provided with a wide array of options and opportunities to research the next step in their academic or working lives.

Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr Rayman was delighted by how students “conducted themselves in such a positive manner.”

“As you would expect, the students were very diligent in their approach to the day. They asked good questions when speaking with advisers and seemed well prepared for the day’s events. We hope that the day has sparked plenty of discussion at home, regarding post-18 options.”
