KTS MAKES OWN APPLE JUICE

what's this interesting tipple being enjoyed by mr Litchfield?Bill Bowkett met up Dan Barnicott to talk about about the school's very own Apple juice

Who came up with the idea of a school Apple juice?

The idea for Knights Apple Juice came around in an EST meeting after Mrs Gough, who is the school's Green governor. She told us that she helped make apple juice in her village and suggested we could press our own with local Baldock company, Apple Cottage Cider.

Who designed the bottle artwork?

Lottie Brignall in Year 13 - she is a fantastic artist. She worked really hard making six draughts before the final that's printed on the bottles.

Where did the Apples come from?

The apples were donated by students, parents and staff, as well as collected from a local orchard by a team of the EST students one Sunday morning.

What was the process like? Was it quick?

The process happened rather quickly after the apples were picked. Apple Cottage Cider picked them up the Monday morning and they were pressed and bottled by Wednesday. Then the finished juice bottles were delivered to the school.

How many have been made?

In total we had 380 bottles of apple juice made which we are selling for £3 per bottle or two for £5.

How did you feel when when you saw the bottles for the first time?

The minute the crates arrived we cracked open a bottle and had some. Wow! Seriously, you have to buy some or you won't know what you're missing.

Where can I buy a bottle of knights apple juice?

The juice can be purchased via Wisepay and then collected from reception within two weeks of your payment.

Will KTS see any more beverages in the near future? Unfortunately, I can't say if any other beverages will appear at KTS through the EST but we do hope to continue making and selling our very own Knights Apple Juice.
