The Old Bailey was brought to KTS as a crack team assembled, including a judge, barristers, witnessesand one potential criminal took this mock trial.
Young people from all over Britain battle out mock criminal trials in real crown courts, gaining an insight into the workings of the legal system.
In the National Mock Trials, students take on the roles of barristers and witnesses and present their case against teams from other schools. First they have to become familiar with the case. Then they have to battle it out in real courtrooms, in front of real judges.
The trial was a close-run event with excellent representation from both the prosecution and defence.
Mrs Allman, who ably led the evening, directed and summed up, as the 12 members of staff (who have to remain anonymous for legal reasons!) were sent out to deliberate.
An eight to four majority sent the accused free, to (the aptly named) Thomas Luck’s delight, after he was accused of dealing drugs to another pupil. T
he excellent team included: Lena Harding, Lauren Marshall, Tanishia Gearing, Thomas Luck, Milly Green, Julia Ten Hove, Caprice Brookes, Helen Inman, Zoe Melabiankaki and Janvi Bhalla.
Well done to everyone concerned!
