Year 13 students Lucy Merrell, Meghan Porter and Lauren Marshall travelled to The Mansion Moor Park Golf Club in Rickmansworth for the Hertfordshire Young Person of the Year Finals.
The students were accompanied by their very own ‘cheering section’, consisting of family, friends and members of KTS teaching staff.
The girls were blown away by the grand venue and were whisked through a series of media responsibilities before being interviewed on stage in front of 200 guests, including local politicians, mayors and other civic dignitaries.
The girls were nominated for this award as a result of the huge amount of voluntary work they have completed in local dance schools, SEN schools and as part of the mentoring programme at KTS.
Although the girls did not win the competition, they were awarded £100 for their incredible voluntary and mentoring work. The girls have decided to donate this money to the Shine Charity, a local youth organisation.
The girls were among 10 finalists, selected from hundreds of nominations, from Hertfordshire.
Mr Allman said that it was, “Possibly one of, if not my proudest night as a teacher.”
Ms Harrison remarked that the girls were “flawless.”
“The students were a credit to themselves," she continued, "and the school as they showed courage throughout the daunting task of addressing such a large and distinguished crowd and demonstrated courtesy in the way they spoke with other contestants and notable guests.”
As Mr Rayman said, “They are an absolute credit to themselves and to their families. A remarkable group of students.”
