Year 10 Textile students visited Birmingham to watch The Clothes Show Live on Tuesday 8th December
Eighteen GCSE Textile students travelled for nearly three hours in a mini bus to attend to The Clothes Show Live, one of the UK's biggest fashion events, which the organisers of the event say, “Brings the best in fashion and beauty.”
The event helped the students to have a much broader understanding of the scale of the fashion industry and clothing, but also to have an enjoyable day alongside thousands of others.
The first show launched during 1989 in London, 25 years ago on the back of the television programme, which was then relocated in 1990 to the NEC in Birmingham. It is now reportedly the second most visited show in the UK, with model agencies often using the show to scout for new talent and advertise clothing.
The popular event welcomed a host of leading names in fashion, including Hilary Alexander, Jamie Laing and many more.
The event included TV presenter Mark Heyes showing people how to have ‘curves with confidence’, Hilary Alexander interviewing famous fashion houses, Joey Essex and others on the Clothing Catwalk and live music from Charli XCX and Ella Eyre. As well as that, there were shops from established clothing, beauty and fashion companies, for students to do any last minute Christmas shopping.
Eden in Year 10 said that her favourite part was the ‘Earth and Future’ sections. And that she "Particularly liked the Stormtrooper."
Tia Leigh commented on her events of the day. “It was really good, I enjoyed the different fashion trends on the stage, and the dancing was really enjoyable to watch. I liked the shopping too!”
Brooke Middleton said that “The show was really good and really inspired me; I also liked it because they were loads of opportunities and things to do.”
